Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. But with a demon wreaking havoc in the city, he’s offered an irresistible deal: help Bryce find the murderer, and his freedom will be within reach.
As Bryce and Hunt dig deep into Crescent City’s underbelly, they discover a dark power that threatens everything and everyone they hold dear, and they find, in each other, a blazing passion—one that could set them both free, if they’d only let it.
With unforgettable characters, sizzling romance, and page-turning suspense, this richly inventive new fantasy series by #1 New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas delves into the heartache of loss, the price of freedom—and the power of love.

The front cover made me buy it, honestly. I didn’t read up on it, didn’t check any reviews or even find out what genre it was. I just wanted it. Generally speaking this is how I choose my books, which works MOST of the time!
Initially I was put off by all the swearing. I know that makes me sound like a priss, but it just seemed like WAY too much to me. Luckily it calmed down, but by chapter 3 I started to ignore the swearing because of how much I was enjoying the book.
This is the first book in a year or so that the plot has actually shocked me. I would say you couldn’t guess any part of the plot. As soon as I thought I knew where it was going, another twist turned up.
I love Bryce and Danikas relationship. As you read on, you really start to understand who Danika is and how strong a character Bryce is.
Not wanting to spoil anything, I won’t go into detail, but this book had me crying, laughing, hot & bothered and smiling. Such a fantastic book!
Personally, I highly recommend (16+) reading this book! I’m so sad the next hasn’t come out yet, but I will definitely be pre-ordering when it’s available!
