It’s that time again – Scarefest! The most wonderful time of the year. The park opens for longer (10:00-21:00) the dungeons open, and the scare mazes materialise! I’m not a scare maze girl (unless I fancy a good cry) but the Halloween decorations never fail to excite me for Halloween!
If you have never visited Alton Towers, you’re missing out (depending on your likeability of heights and general theme park bits and bobs) you can take a peak here at everything there is to do and see. There is so much for both adults and children to do so it’s a great day out!
Nemesis is of course a must-ride. Nemesis was installed in 1994 and is still one of the best roller coasters in the park! With its top speed of 81kph and +3.5G, this ride isn’t for the fainthearted.
The Wicker man is the newest edition to Alton Towers. It is the only wooden roller coaster to be built in the UK in the last 20 years! The ride is based around the 1973 film, The Wicker Man. On this ride you will be immersed in the sacrificial story of the Wicker Man. A must ride!
The Smiler has become slightly controversial due to the accident in 2015 (if you don’t know about this, 3 people were injured when their Smiler carriage collided with another). The ride is the worlds first 14 loop roller coaster with a top speed of 85kph.
Scarefest means 3 things – Halloween decorations, Halloween attractions and extended ride times! The park is usually open 10:00-18:00 but stays open until 21:00 for Scarefest visitors. Tickets are £34 online of £58 on the day, so of course I recommend booking before you get there (something we didn’t do because we thought we had a voucher – oops!)
