Climbing Mount Snowdon: October Adventure

October 10, 2019

If you don’t already know, Mount Snowdon is the tallest mountain in Wales and the 76th tallest in the UK (it did not feel like the 76th when climbing it!) And the picture on the left is the magnificent view from the peak…

The ascent

The beginning of the ascent was absolutely breathtaking. My partner chose to take us up via a waterfall (there are tonnes of paths to take). We took the Ranger Path, which at the time felt like the hardest one possible but upon investigation it was the second easiest…

The peak

We got to the top after 2 breakdowns, overtaking a few people and being overtaken by some fitness blogger type who wasn’t as out of breath as I was. There is a cafe at the top which was absolutely rammed, but I got a hot dog so all was not lost. Honestly I was just pleased to be alive and kicking.

The descent

We went down the Llanberis Path (the easiest route) with jelly legs and a small sense of pride. The views were beautiful and it was a slightly steadier route than the Ranger Path.

We finished it off with this beautiful view overlooking Llyn Peris.  I would do it again but not any time soon! My legs and lungs need some time to relax!

Next on the list :  Ben Nevis.
